Wobbly Heads – Fun Promotional Pop-up Card with Springy Action
Here’s a way to add a bit of fun to your promotion – add a Wobbly Head to it. For our own samples, we have chosen to show the Wobbly Head idea on an A5 showcard but there is no reason why you couldn’t add the Wobbly Head to anything. Many of our automatic pop-up products would benefit from this extra attraction. Our pop-up cube for example, a pop-up house or a pop-up pyramid would be given extra focus and added “keepability” with a fun Wobbly Head added to the front panel. Pop-up pen holders are another obvious choice for the Wobbly Head treatment. The action is really cute and will generate a smile.

We talk about a 3.33 rule of thumb in direct marketing. It refers to the total of 3 minutes and 33 seconds that you have to totally sell a direct mail promotion. You have 3 seconds for your mailing pack to create an impact; a further 30 seconds for the actual piece to create an impact and then the total time that anyone will devote to reading everything is apparently just 3 minutes. If you want your efforts to work beyond that, we suggest that you add “keepability” to the marketing product. Our automatic pop-up products have a lot of instant impact and supply the interactivity to ensure that the 30 second factor is supplied but by adding a Wobbly Head to the main panel you could ensure that the product stays on your customer’s desk for an awful long time.

Whilst we are advocating the adding of Wobbly Heads to different pop-up products, they make a perfectly good stand-alone popup card as presented on our A6 mini-showcards. The showcards are just enough of a variation to a standard greeting card to add that little bit of interaction required to make your customer take a little longer to figure out how to operate the strut at the back in order to make the card stand up. This extra moment’s handling can make a lot of difference to your customer’s recall of the product. Not only do your customers remember the Wobbly Head but they also remember the slightly unusual stand-up mechanism. This all adds to the success of the product in your direct marketing campaign.
